radiance redo

i'm much happier with the new radiance stitching.  i pulled out all of the kantha stitching that went out in rays from the moon and replaced them with a more subtle combination of vintage off white pearl cotton and hand dyed variegated pearl cotton in a randomized spiral.  this maintained the quiet peacefulness of the cloth while still creating a radiance from the moon.

and a close up (it's difficult to see the variegated stitches...i can hardly wait to get home and get my good camera out instead of relying on my droid cam):

that woven cloth peeking out from behind the midwinter cloth is one of my c2c pieces.  i'll post pics once i get some stitching done of it, but right now it's just pinned...

meanwhile, these remind me of what is falling gently outside at the moment...

and i'm really enjoying this...and this...

  1. It is becoming truly lovely. The spiraling outward is gently perfect. The video so moving I shared in on my Facebook page. Thank you for that.

  2. I love the look of this now, yes the peacefulness has returned, not that I'm critisizing before, it's just that this is better. I hate to even comment much on people's work because I don't want someone to think I'm critisizing.
I love the video of namaste (don't know how to put an accent on top of "e", told you I'm not computer savvy. ha!)
Any time I said "namaste" and someone asked me what it meant I would just say "the good in me reconizes the good in you." So I loved the video and all the indeptness to it.
You'll love participating in the on line class, it's as if we are all in one studio stitching and chatting.
    Namaste,
    Helen

  3. Joe, yes, I know what you mean -- it has to come from that place within you. The moon was gorgeous before, too, but was maybe not exactly what you were feeling.
    Namaste, to Joe from Peggy
(and thanks for mentioning my curtains)

I really love this piece. It is so soft and the moon is glowing. I am having such a hard time with french knots and yours look perfect. Is there a secret? Mine never look like the one before.
So we will continue in the class. It will be so fun, I am getting excited.
I have gone to India twice and I love the greeting Namaste.

  7. thank you, helen...and no, i didn't think you were criticizing. i never worry about criticisms anyway...i know they are simply the expressions of another's opinions in the first place...

i know how to put the accent above the e in namaste' but it is such a hassle...i just use an apostrophe for mine...

i look forward to the class immensely! we shall all have such great fun!

  8. peggy...true, it seems we can create things that don't quite convey the image that is our hearts and souls...and so we change them until we can get as close as possible...

i loved your snowflake curtains so very much!!! i was pleased to share them! i want to make some for my windows when i get home....

  9. linda, i think french knots just take practice. i still pull them out from time to time, if i don't keep the tension on them and they get a little wonky...unless, of course, they want to be wonky...in which case, i simply leave them be and practice wabi sabi a little better....
