rusty sunshine where once there were none

eighty hour work weeks do not leave a tremendous amount of time for creativity. i shall have to remedy that. in the meantime, however, i have been unbundling my hothouse rust dye bundles and discovering all manner of unexpected treasures! more photos to come, but first i wanted to share what i've been doing with one of them in those few precious moments here and there when i can sit down by the fire and needle chant a bit instead of sleep...

nevermind the sun in the sky, which hasn't put an appearance in for several days now, this little rusty fellow seems to bring a warmth all his own!

looks like piper is laying claim to this warm little sun before anyone else gets a chance!

a few suns that i've found inspiring today can be found here (3rd pic down), here, and here.

    1. something i used to tell my knitting students oh so many years ago when teaching them to steek and cut their knitting to insert button bands comes to mind: just remember, it is only fabric!

you will do wonderfully with your bundles, whatever sort you choose to try!

  3. Your sun cloth is just perfect! I have never used the seed stitch, and I admire it on other people's work all the time. It's supposed to be hard to make it all "randomly" even looking which is the trick to it looking good.

    1. perhaps the trick is to simply not thInk about it and just do. oh. . .and to get out of your own way and to allow it to be what it is. . .without judgement. no simple task, eh? try it. you will be wonderful at it!

  5. 80 hour work weeks don't leave much time for ANYTHING, let alone creativity!! Smitten with this rusty sun... wonderful. Leave it to the cat to always hog the sunspots!
