proverbial pain in the neck

i've been rather quiet this week because i have been unable to do much stitching. aside from doubles at the cottage, i have also managed to pinch a nerve or something in my neck and haven't been able to move much without excruciating pain. even sitting here trying to type this brief message is exacerbating the problem. my trusty tens unit is helping but i will be more than relieved when the kink works itself out!

meanwhile, i was playing around with overlaying some old sketches on that recent background cloth and am rather fond of this one...

but for now i need to step away from the computer and give my neck a rest.

  1. Oh my goodness, I hope you feel better soon. I'm rather fond of that overlay as well. I like how the grayish rectangle looks like a door behind tree. Having the bunny there as well gives the feel of a secret garden.
Happy Thanksgiving to you, may your day be filled in the best ways possible.

  3. lovely image Joe - and thanks for posting it even when it hurts, hope that eases soon - I won't offer well meant advice, I'm sure you've had plenty already but offer wishes for relaxed muscles and nerves and an end to pain, which has very little to recommend it

    1. thank you, kat. it is finally beginning to settle down. doctor says i'm just overworked and need to take some time to relax instead of working 7 days a week for weeks on end.

  4. Oh dear, I feel for you, Joe, hope it rectifies itself asap. And -- not sure how you did that overlay exactly but it looks very cool. Namaste and xo.

    1. i did the overlays in a graphic editing program. you just open an image. edit it to your liking. then open another image and place it right on top of the first one. then set the second image to a transparency of 30 (or whatever works for the images you are using) so that you can see them both!

i like using this method to play around with stitch and patch ideas that are floating around in my noggin. it's basically a high-tech way of doing the tracing paper overlays i used to do in art class...

  5. I love that overlay Joe...the colours and those images are beautiful. Will you be able to get that onto fabric? I was imagining the rabbit printed onto some transparent silk and then stitched foliage. How beautiful.
Hope your kink has worked itself out and your feeling much better. Can be quite debilitating.

    Take care.

    1. yes. i will either use a light box to transfer the design, or a projector. each have their own merits and are chosen depending upon the project at hand based on materials, etc.

I hope your nerve is settling down and you are getting some relief.
I hope you continue to breathe life into this idea...it's a wonderful beginning.
