a residue of time

"dark and silent
dreams settle
in the night like
a residue of time"
-d. joseph madl

while contemplating my collection  of burmese marionettes and indonesian wayan goleck (rod puppets), a thought intruded the quiet afternoon. unbidden. an unwelcome guest.  sitting in the corner. watching me squirm in discomfort.

i have become complacent.

lazy even.

dust gathers on my workbench. a surface from whence once poured inspiration. like these puppets without a puppeteer,  i dangle uselessly in my studio.

some thing
must be done.

  1. Ahhhh, this friendly face is looking expectantly in search for a puppeteer, I think your cloth is waiting expectantly too .....

(ha, but I know (as will every other creative person) these moods lacking inspiration all too well .... keep faith : it'll come back to you Joe ! This will pass)

  3. Soon.
I would love to meet some of your other puppets. I have a very old dragon puppet in need of some TLC :)

  4. we all need some down time - like dark and light, we wouldn't know one without the other - so not lazy, just taking a break to renew
