still standing in the snow...

tonight's arctic storm has inspired me to pull out the old man in the snow winter cloth and work a bit more on him as the snow continues to waft down around the cottage. he isn't really a "santa clause" so it doesn't matter that xmas has already been packed away once again into its boxes for yet another year. does it? not in my demented world in any case...  perhaps he will be in need of friends? either way, there is still a lot of thread chanting to be done before he has whispered his stories into the cold, snowy night air.

meanwhile, i am in full gratitude for the crackling fire that burns on in the hearth and the comfortable chair beneath my backside as i stitch into the wee hours of the morning...

  1. I have a magical "Santa Shaman" as I call him, wearing a beautiful, leaf embroidered robe and holding a stag staff. He's more of a scandinavian wise man than a santa to me. He stays out all year because he is a symbol of winter magic and my northern ancestors. So I think it grand to sit by the fire in the snow and whisper to winter wizards.

  2. Great "mushroom hunter" of the woods. I think the whole lore is around the amanita mushroom

Well I love a warm wood fire when it is snowing outside...or raining...which it does here. It is snow you don't have to shovel. lol.

  5. The snow must be across the entire northern tier? A perfect stitching cloth for snowy nights. He's going to be fabulous, actually he already is, love the ground cloth. Namaste

A few blogs I have read poeple are really happy to have that extra time at home to do some stitching bein forced to stay home due to snow. I couldnt imagine ever being housebound like that.

    1. ah. what i wouldn't give to be able to stay at home due to snow. but up here in the wilds of montana, we all ride very tall horses...or at least drive big, four-wheel drive trucks, so we have no excuses when it comes to snow. ha!

    1. thank you so much. i am, indeed, enjoying needle chanting in my cozy spot... even better for having piper to keep my lap warm and sachi to stretch her girth out on my feet to help keep the toes from the chill... of course, both of which seem to be a heat magnet when it comes to the fireplace! ha!
