    1. i would have just *loved* to have collected my beautiful french linens from the "obvious" place! but, no...they've been garnered from thrift shops and sent to me by friends from around the world...

  2. They might be good for dyeing as well - I have a couple of old linen tea towels I tried in the dyeing class I@m going to and they do seem to lap up the dye. I'll bet they feel lovely to stitch too - the weave visible enough to make stitching on them a pleasure.

    1. they are divine for dyeing! sadly, there is only so much time in the day...so mine will most likely see only stitch. though, one never knows...

    2. Indeed, only so much time - try not to use too much of it this year, keep up your strength for creativity!!! (you can imagine that said in a stern granny'ish voice!);-)

  6. Old French linens...a delight...have hauled a linen collection around with me for so many years...now retired and living back in the Rockies I am finding stitch time on these precious bits that have traveled far with me...so looking forward to seeing what comes alive for you on the linen cloth as you stitch..something so wonderful about that plant fiber as you hold the cloth and work..soft, strong, enduring fabric. Your adventures with this cloth hold my curiosity..

  7. I hope this somewhat cryptic reference to "great changes" means that you will have more blocks of time for yourself in 2013! In any case, I will be following along. Happy New Year, Joe!
