there seems to be a lot of this going around. colds. flu's. general blech. poor piper, the cat with the golden pipes, seems to have been visited by something icky and unpleasant. i can't quite place it. he doesn't have any definable symptoms that i can see. just a general "look" about him. he's hanging out in dark rooms. sleeping more than usual. has a "fuzzy" look about his face. isn't purring or meowing in his usual way. i called the vet. he wasn't sure either...wanted to run a bunch of tests that i can ill-afford with no real direction or promises...
i remembered how well jude's fabric therapy worked for was, so am giving it a try...
i'm going to have to wait out the weekend either way, and keep a close eye on him. hopefully, it will pass and he will feel himself once again soon. meanwhile, i'm planning lots of naps with him cuddled gently in my arms. keep him warm. keep him relaxed. keep him loved. poor little guy...
your thoughts are greatly appreciated for his well-being...

Sending many thoughts. Meow.
ReplyDeleteOh Piper, feel better soon. Our Nels spent Friday at the vet getting re-hydrated and slept away today also with fiber therapy. It is so difficult when our fur-kids are ill and cannot tell us what is wrong. Sending healing thoughts to Piper and words of compassion to you.
ReplyDeleteSending soft soothing whispers Piper's way, and kind thoughts to you. Hope he is feeling better soon.
ReplyDeleteThese tender four foot souls wrap themselves around our hearts don't they? They whisper to us and we whisper to them and people who don't have "pets" think we're quite mad (foolish folk)! Do hope he gets better - I'm sure your cuddles and cloth are doing him good. Perhaps a little mouse soup as well? .... Why doesn't cat food come in mouse flavour?
ReplyDeleteJoe, Could Piper have eaten something he shouldn't have? Just a thought. Hope he is better very soon. He's letting you hold him, that's good for both of you.
ReplyDeleteA time for stroking, cuddling, wrapping your love around Piper and both of you could get under that gorgeous quilt I think!
ReplyDeleteTime usually heals everything!!!
Your Piper looks so much like my own Dorothy. I am very sorry that he is not feeling well. It is good of you to take such wonderful care of him ... we love them so. (If he isn't better by Monday, a trip to the vet is probably the answer ... a quick blood test and exam may provide an answer.) I'm sending good thoughts and white light your way, for you and for Piper.
ReplyDeletemaybe just sick of winter. that is what y vet said...hope he is up and around soon. was has been down a few times this season...
ReplyDeleteGood thoughts coming to you and Piper. I see someone already asked if he could have eaten something he shouldn't have. That is always a concern for me with 2 dogs. Maybe he needs some mouse soup! Hopefully your tender care and fabric therapy will help.
ReplyDeleteIt is so frustrating when they can't tell us, for us and for them. My Lucca is a big talker and always tries. (Often from the bathtub behind the curtain.) Enjoy some restful cuddle time. Sending warm thoughts.
ReplyDeletePoor kitty. My Darrell (who could be his twin) says "he probably ate something disagreeable and will be his old self again soon since you have devised such a good treatment plan".
ReplyDeletethank you, everyone! the little bugger has me worried...but with your thoughts and some serious cuddle time, i think he'll make it through...i'm hoping it's just something he ate...or a hairball...
ReplyDeletehe's sure to get well sleeping under that heart weaving and with all the good thoughts being sent his way. keep us posted.
ReplyDelete(salo) Pets are more like humans than one realizes and I agree with Jude, he's probably sick of winter, but I will send good juju your way just in case it's more.
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry your Piper is under the weather. Sometime my male Scottie (Frodo) just doesn't have good days either. He's not sick, but I think he gets a little melancholy and just wants to BE. I stroke his neck, scratch his head, and just leave him sitting on top of his favorite pillow on the chair. He comes out of his blues and then is his normal self. Maybe Piper is just sad because Winter is hanging on.
ReplyDeleteLove and prayers for Piper from the four furries.
ReplyDeleteAs some of the other commentors have noted, it's difficult because our pets can't tell us what's wrong and we always assume the worst. Cat's do get colds just like us. Your Piper looks very much like a cat I used to have. I hope she gets well soon. Sending positive thoughts.
ReplyDeleteWe have several cats and don't always have funds for a trip to the vet. There have been times when they seem to be "under the weather" and just wanting to sleep (more than usual!) Our vet prescribed amoxycillan (probably not spelled right)and just a few doses of that seems to help. It's not very expensive at all and it did help in our case. Hope Piper is feeling better soon.
ReplyDeleteSending thoughts of strength and healing....
ReplyDeletesending warm wishes for your fur baby =)
ReplyDeletepiper is in good hands with you looking after him joe. sending many get well wishes to piper from aus.

Snuggling together is my first resort when my
ReplyDeletebuddy is acting slightly ill. Will be sending
good thoughts for you both.
Hope your fur baby is feeling better soon....with such a loving daddy I'm sure he will.
ReplyDeletehilary
I do hope Piper is feeling better soon. Always so stressful when our fur babies are not themselves.
ReplyDeleteI am sending my and Raphael's (my brown tiger cat) positive energy and thoughts to Piper. Oh poor baby - there is nothing worse than an under the weather kitty. Lots of cuddling and hugs from his daddy will help I am sure. Please keep us posted...
ReplyDeleteNamaste,
Beth P
I hope Piper is feeling better.
ReplyDeleteCats do fake for attention, just ask our cats! We even had one fake a paw injury and limped just so he would get treats! Cats go beyond dog thinking. lol
ReplyDeletehmmm...that could definitely be, wanda. the vet thought he might be depressed...but i have been spending an unusual amount of time in front of the computer lately, what with one world one heart and all... plus with all the sub zero temps we've been having, the outside dog (read: siberian/germanshepherd/wolf cross) has been inside a lot and sniffing around...so he may have just been vying for attention...the little runt!
