shifting weather patterns

the weather her in the wilds of montana can't seem to make up its mind. we still haven't had a "real" winter (though there are those who are sighing in relief). lately, it'll seem like spring is poking her head around the corner. then old man winter wakes up and shakes a flurry of snowflakes from his robes and reminds us that it's still his turn to wander the countryside...

in reflection of this, i have added some more clouds to the skies around the rusty sun. they are batik scraps from the same old class project. added some kantha stitching to fill in where the scissors took out. whispers of thread chants and romping beasts fill my ears this evening. this cloth is far from fully realized in its manifestation...

this afternoon saw a new flurry of snow. perhaps old man winter hasn't given up the ghost yet either...

  1. The weather is confused here in Eastern Washington too. One day tshirts and today back to sweaters. The clouds, the indigo, the sun all are playing well together on your cloth. Hopefully, Mom Nature will take a clue from you. Wishing you a relaxing weekend.

  2. Our weather today seemed like a tug of war between winter and spring. High winds and sunshine, then huge snow squalls and white outs. Back and forth from one to the other all day... wierd.

Your cloth has a lot of movement with the clouds.

  3. Ha Joe, love your rusty sun a bit more now. Always fun to see things develope and grow! These clouds look like "megamendung" clouds!

    1. it is far from over though! ha! and yes, they do rather look like megamendung clouds...though i created them before i knew what megamendung clouds were...

thanks for the well wishes on the undone sweaters. i know right where they are. they enjoy spending evenings taunting me with their loose yarns...little buggers that they are! ha!

  4. The weather here has been unusually dry. We are experiencing a solar minimum even though we are in a "solar maximum"...which means that we haven't had a lot of sun spot activity (like zero lately). The sun controls the weather and thus this is why ancients "worshiped" the sun. This could mean that we are headed into a http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maunder_Minimum. When the earth is cooler there is less evaporation off the oceans, thus less precipitation...which could translate into droughts, and more fires.

I like your clouds. The clouds here are brought to you by Chemtrails.
